Our trainers

Our trainers are experts in working in the environment of  learning difficulties and mental health problems.  Their key skills are specialised, they adopt a person-centred approach, treat clients with dignity and as an equal, express empathy and compassion, and provide unfailing optimism.  Above all they are adept at instilling a sense of self-worth and  self-efficacy.

Julian Ivory

Julian Ivory has 25 years of experience as a physical trainer, gaining PEA certification in Exercise & Health Studies at the end of a full-time course at Oaklands College in 1994.  He initially worked in one of London’s premier health clubs with high profile clients before setting up as an independent physical trainer, working from a private studio, leisure centres and at clients’ homes.  Working with people with mental health problems and learning difficulties became an increasing professional interest and passion.  In 2012, he began working in several residential care settings and this led directly to the founding of Psychesoma in 2015.  To date, Julian and Psychesoma have worked with over 100 clients with mental health problems and learning difficulties.
